Singapore, its high-tech companies, its ultramodern buildings... and her "business schools" of the hexagon. After Insead in 2000, then the ESSEC business school in 2005, Edhec opens its campus in the Asian metropolis. "We seek a point of collapse in Asia, particularly to strengthen the visibility of our brand, says Olivier Oger, the Director General of the group." We have been asked by the monetary authorities of the country. "As a first step, the school has temporary premises in the financial district" of the city - pending a final installation. E-learning room will allow to share courses with other school sites.
For Edhec, this new implementation is above all intended to develop the collaboration with local businesses - in particular on what constitutes the main area of excellence of the school: finance. "Have a campus abroad, in itself, has no interest." What it is that we are doing and that could be done elsewhere, said Noël Amenc, Director of the Edhec Risk Institute. Our goal is simple: we want to have influence in the business. To do this, the international dimension is required. "A strategy that school summarized in a slogan:" Edhec for business ". It therefore intends to continue to Singapore that it is already on its other international sites. Since 2003, she hosted for example over 5,000 professionals in its seminars in London.

The new campus, opened in October, will offer a wide range of programs: "since the seminar three days to three-year doctorate", said Frédéric Ducoulombier, the Director of the site. This will include training of high level type master of science (MSc), part-time, cycles of continuous training (Executive MSc, short seminars...) and research, including chairs and conferences. "We will conduct research of high level, here to present to the financial industry," says Frédéric Ducoulombier. Two region-specific issues have been chosen: the new investment opportunities to deal with inflation and the management of sovereign wealth funds - Deutsche Bank finances a Chair dedicated to this last topic.
EUR 28 million
Edhec has also started to recruit teachers who teach in Singapore. Six of them are committed and a dozen seminars have been organized.
For the school, this Asian implementation is also an opportunity to reshape the entire device (5 campuses). Only Lille and Nice are the first "academic" full-time, campus currently enjoying a very important renovation. Paris is dedicated to the European learning, while London and Singapore serve as emblems to the international. Total investment in Asia, over five years, amounted to EUR 28 million. A sum provided by authorities in Singapore, businesses (Deutsche Bank, particularly) and the Edhec group.
For the authorities of Singapore, the arrival of the Edhec is a key step in their project to build a "cluster of excellence" dedicated to finance, to be a major financial centre in Asia. It will include school along with two local universities of goodwill and the centre for research in finance from Insead. "This facility will help us to strengthen our influence in the region," provides Burhan Gafoor, Ambassador of Singapore in France.
